Tell Me about Les

I am not just a Handyman, I have a background in Hospitality interior design of which I won a SCHOLARSHIP AT RYERSON. I was designing and building restaurants for many years and way before all this reality nonsense. On these shows they have many people doing many things, but I did everything including the menu design, food costing, portioning, even the training of the staff. But it does not stop at restaurants.

I have designed many machines with my father who is an Engineer in Fluidics, Hydraulics, Automation and we made some pretty cool stuff which has changed the world many times over. No handyman in the world could do that find the link below.

I do not drink or smoke and I do not show up with the coffee cigarette breath most trades people have.

There's Less Stress and Mess, when You Hire Les!

Well.....without the customer, I do not have much of a business and because I have been in business for over 25 years fixing things and I think this speaks for itself. But I have many customers who love me and there is something emotionally pleasing that I cannot describe. They are very happy to see me. So... we go out and eat lunch together and they invite me for dinner at the club. How many handymen do you know, that go to the club as guests of they're customers.? They will even lend me their Jag for a spin around town. I have even been given the keys to their cottages and summer homes to hang out for a week or two. I don't know about you but I know no one, that gets this kind of treatment from anybody. And I am honored to be in such a "low life profession" and be respected so highly.

Well, I have worked for actors and politicians that no body likes plus singers and bands and other famous people that just want the work done with minimum hassle. FBI and Yes even for or an intelligence agency too (you will have to buy the book) Lots of actors who don't want to be bothered and hey, I don't know who 1/2 these people are anyway. Once I got some passes to go to the Juno's and I was talking to the guys in Tragically Hip or what is even funnier is when I was speaking to Shania Twain, and afterwards someone had to point out the fact that she was a very famous person. To me she was just a nice women to talk to. That's it! So famous people hire me too.

And I studied Interior Design while I was at Ryerson and even won an award and a scholarship.

A year later I found myself working for the best restaurant design house in Toronto.

And soon I was building Restaurants as well. I love creating space where there, seemingly, is none. And I was very good at it.

I then took one of my award winning concepts and sold it to an Entrepreneur and I made the whole restaurant.

When I was 24 years old I did everything, hire the staff, design the menus, do the food costing, design and built the restaurant's as well.

While doing all of this I also went back to school to brush up on my interior design skills at Seneca College.

Perhaps the fact that I have been in business for over 20 years, may say something about who I am and the quality work I deliver. Just click on the picture of me to see what others think.

The fact is that I have referred millions of dollars of business to others in the name of good service even when I had the Les the Handyman Hour on CFRB RADIO 1010

Learned how tio Blow glass in Venice, make Beer stains in Switzerland in the mountains and even had my own leather climbing pants and I was up in the mountains.

One day about 8 years ago a friend of mine came over with his guitar and we both got a little drunk and came up with a Les the Handyman Rhapsody. You have to understand that I am not much of a drinker and two beers later I was feeling pretty good. This song was sooooooo silly and funny, that I was crying, because I was laughing so hard because, in my opinion it was really stupid!

I recorded it onto a mini tape recorder and called up the some 300 radio stations in Toronto and left messages on their voice mails. I thought perhaps one may call me back for an interview. The problem was that most of them called me back for many interviews.

One of those stations approached me and said to me that if I cut the song professionally, and register it and release it for them, then they will make me famous.

The studio time and hiring unionized people with instruments and copywriting the song were expensive for me, but the benefits were....well...fantastic!

However the disadvantages were that I was getting no work done fast. Everywhere I went I was hearing that song and people loved it...! In fact they could not get enough of it.

Then ad agencies started to call me to sing their diaper commercials. Sorry I had to draw the line there.

The last thing I did was have a talk show with Ted Walishin on CFRB and the Les the Handyman Hour every Saturday Morning;- Where people would call in and I would answer their questions. I didn't like it very much and soon stopped. When we were talking about decks, people would call in about roofing. I didn't like that especially because I did not do roofing. Saying I don't know the answer to that question and have 250,000 people hearing it made me quite sad. So I stopped.

I now have another song which I think is even better than the first but I don't know what to do with it.
